Getting Started

Adding Playlists

• File → Playlists: Opens the Playlist Manager where you can add M3U playlists (URL or local file) and Xtream Codes accounts.
• M3U Playlist: Enter a URL or browse for a local .m3u/.m3u8 file. Give it a friendly name.
• Xtream Codes: Enter the server URL, username, and password. The player will auto-detect Live TV, Movies, and Series categories.
• Drag & Drop: Drop .m3u files or URLs directly onto the window to load them instantly.

Quick Play

• File → Open Stream: Play any URL or local media file immediately without saving to your playlist library.
• File → History: Quickly reopen recently loaded playlists and Xtream accounts.

Navigation

Sidebar

• Categories: Click a category to see its channels/streams.
• Search: Type in the search box to filter. For regular playlists, choose to search All, Categories only, or Channels only.
• Sorting: Click the Sort button to order by Playlist Order, A-Z, Z-A, or Natural sorting (handles numbers properly).
• Back: Click the Back button or press Backspace to return to the previous view.

Xtream Codes Navigation

• Root View: Shows Live TV, Movies, Series, plus any favorite categories you've starred.
• Live TV: Browse categories, then channels. EPG data shows current/next programs when available.
• Movies: Browse by category, click a movie to see details (poster, description, cast), then Watch.
• Series: Browse by category, select a series to see seasons, then episodes.

Play Menu / Keyboard Shortcuts

Speed Control

• Play menu Speed submenu offers 0.25x, 0.5x, 0.75x, 1x (normal), 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x speeds.

Floating Toolbar

• Hover near the bottom of the video to reveal playback controls.
• Includes: Play/Pause, Stop, Record toggle, Mute, Volume slider, Fullscreen, Screenshot, Audio track, Subtitle track, Previous/Next channel.

Video Settings

Video Menu

• Track: Select video track if multiple are available.
• Fullscreen: Toggle with F, F11, or ESC. Also via Video menu.
• Screenshot: Capture current frame (saved to Screenshots folder).

Video Filters

• Deinterlace: Removes interlacing artifacts (enabled by default for IPTV).
• Postprocessing: General video quality enhancement.
• Deblock: Reduces blocking artifacts from compression.
• Dering: Reduces ringing artifacts around edges.
• Debanding (gradfun): Smooths color banding in gradients.
• Add noise: Adds film grain effect.
• Add black borders: Adds padding around the video.
• Software scaling: Forces software-based scaling.
• Autodetect phase: Automatic phase detection for telecined content.

Audio Settings

Audio Menu

• Track: Select audio track (shortcut: # or Shift+3 to cycle).
• Mute: Toggle mute via toolbar or context menu.
• Volume Up/Down: Adjust volume (shortcuts: 0 / 9).
• Output Device: Select audio output device from available options.

Audio Filters

• Extrastereo: Enhances stereo separation.
• Karaoke: Attempts to remove vocals from music.
• Headphone optimization: Crossfeed for better headphone listening.
• Volume normalization: Automatically levels audio volume.

Subtitles

• Subtitles → Track: Select subtitle track or disable subtitles.
• Cycle: Press J to cycle through available subtitles, Shift+J to cycle backward.

Library Features

Favorites

• Add to Favorites: Right-click any channel/stream and select Add to Favorites.
• View Favorites: View menu shows all starred items.
• Favorite Categories: Star entire categories in Xtream mode; they appear on the root view for quick access.

Watch Later

• Add: On Xtream movie/series detail pages, click Watch Later to save for later.
• View: View menu Watch Later shows your saved movies and series.

Recent Streams

• View → Recent Streams: Lists recently played channels for quick replay.

Resume Playback

• VOD content (movies, series episodes) remembers your position.
• When reopening, you'll be prompted to resume from where you left off.

Recording

Recording Menu

• Record Streams Automatically: When enabled, recording starts automatically when playback begins.
• Stop Recording: Manually stop the current recording.
• Open Recordings Folder: Opens the recordings folder in your file manager.
• Open Screenshots Folder: Opens the screenshots directory.

Recording Modes

• Low Latency Recording: Minimal buffering, immediate recording start. Best for stable connections.
• Buffered Recording: Extra cache for smoother recording on unstable connections.

View Options

• Toggle Fullscreen: F, F11, or ESC to enter/exit fullscreen.
• Stream Info: View menu Stream Info shows technical details about the current stream.
• TV Guide: View menu TV Guide opens EPG for the current live channel (when available).
• Light/Dark Mode: Switch between light and dark themes.
• Preferences: Configure detailed player settings.

Open with Options → Preferences. Every setting below has a ? beside its title in the player, which brings you straight to its entry here.

Startup Action

What the player does when you open it. Pick one of four:

Do nothing

Opens to an empty player. Nothing is loaded and nothing plays. Choose this if you watch something different every time, or if you are on a metered connection and do not want a playlist downloaded before you have asked for one.

Load last playlist

Reopens the playlist you used last, ready to browse, but does not start playing. This is the default, and the right choice for most people: the channel list is there when you want it and nothing starts making noise on its own.

Play last stream

Reopens the last playlist and starts playing the channel you were last watching. Closest to turning on a television.

Restore last Multi-View

Reopens the Multi-View grid exactly as you left it, with the same layout and the same channels in the same cells. Useful if you always watch the same set of channels together.

Pro. Every option except Do nothing is a Pro feature. On the free tier the setting stays available but falls back to Do nothing.

A startup action needs something to restore. On a brand new install, or after you clear your history, the first three behave like Do nothing until you have opened a playlist at least once.

Language

The player is fully translated into twelve languages: English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Turkish, Arabic and Simplified Chinese.

Choose one here, or leave it on the system default to follow your desktop. The change applies immediately, with no restart.

Maintenance

Shows how much disk space the player is using, and lets you clear any of it.

Two things grow over time. The TV guide cache holds the downloaded guide for each source, and guides are large files. The channel logo cache holds one image per channel, which adds up on a playlist with thousands of channels.

Clearing any of it is always safe. Anything removed is downloaded again the next time it is needed, so the only cost is a slower first load.

• Cleanup: Clear cached data including channel logos, EPG cache, history, favorites, and more.
• Startup Action: Choose what happens when the player starts.

Configuration

• Import Config: Load settings from a backup file.
• Export Config: Save all settings to a file for backup or transfer.

Parental Controls

• Protect Categories: Right-click a category and select Set PIN Protection.
• Access: Protected categories show a lock icon and require PIN entry to view.
• Remove Protection: Right-click and select Remove PIN Protection.

Tips & Tricks

• Quick Category Access: Star frequently used Xtream categories to show them on the root view.
• Natural Sorting: Use Natural A-Z sorting to properly order numbered channels.
• Context Menu: Right-click on the video for quick access to all menu options.
• EPG Updates: EPG data auto-updates periodically; manual refresh available in preferences.
